- History
- CRAFTconsult was established in Zurich, Switzerland in 2002 by Oliver Meier.
Back then the tragic events of September 11, 2001 had profoundly changed the airline industry which resulted in the demise of Swissair and Sabena and many other airlines around the globe. During these turbulent times several start-up airlines prepared to enter the fray. This led to an increased demand for professional and comprehensive air transport consultancy services in Switzerland and worldwide.
During these times the founder of CRAFTconsult received a significant amount of inquiries for consultancy services due to his affiliation with newly founded SWISS International Airlines and his affiliation with City University London which led him eventually to establish his own consultancy.
Some of the consultancy services provided between 2002- 2004 included; a feasibility study for a new Greek full fare airline including budgeting operational costs for the first 5 years of operation, scrutinizing business plans for several planned low cost carriers and advising a major Swiss law firm involved in pilot union negotiations.
In addition CRAFTconsult provided a full support package for a start up airline, in conjunction with SWISS International Airlines, comprising of a comprehensive wet lease and MRO and training agreement. Furthermore an independent safety audit for an Indonesian low fare airline was conducted. Another major project was introducing MD80 aircraft into a "B737 only" airline in Africa.
Since then CRAFTconsult enjoys a steady growth and has the privilege to work for leading aviation companies and airlines throughout the world. Our second office was opened in 2006 strategically located in Dubai. The United Arab Emirates are conveniently located in the heart of the Middle East surrounded by many emerging markets in Africa, the Subcontinent, Eastern Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States.
In May 2008 CRAFTconsult was accredited by the International Business Aviation Council "IBAC" as IS-BAO implementation support and audit organisation.
